पुण्यामध्ये मयूर कॉलनीत डॉ. निखिल मेहता राहतात. जे एमबीबीएस आहेत, ते त्यांच्या रुग्णांना आवश्यकता पडली तरच एखादे दुसरे औषध सुचवतात. त्यांनी आयुर्वेदाचा अभ्यास केलेला आहे रुग्ण त्यांच्याकडे गेल्यानंतर ते त्याच्या आहारा-विहाराची पूर्ण माहिती घेतात, त्यात व दिनचर्येमध्ये आवश्यक तो बदल सुचवतात व केवळ त्या बदलामुळे रुग्ण बरा होतो. डॉ. मेहता रोगाच्या मुळाशी जातात, पेशंटला त्रास कशामुळे होत आहे याचा शोध घेतात व त्यानुसार उपाययोजना सुचवतात. पेशंटला खूप वेळ देतात त्यामुळे पेशंटचा आत्मविश्वास वाढतो व आरोग्याकडे वाटचाल सुरू होते. डॉक्टरांचे म्हणणे आहे की आरोग्य ज्याची त्याची जबाबदारी आहे व ती प्रत्येकाने नीट सांभाळली पाहिजे व आपणच आपले डॉक्टर झाले पाहिजे . दिवसातून किती वेळा खाल्ले पाहिजे असे डॉक्टरांना विचारले असता ते म्हणतात की ही गोष्ट शरीराला ठरवू द्या. शरीर भूक लागल्यानंतर अन्न मागतेच व तहान लागल्यानंतर पाणी मागतेच ही अत्यंत साधी गोष्ट सध्या फारच गुंतागुंतीची झालेली आहे. लोक पुस्तकात वाचून किंवा यू-ट्यूबवर पाहून शरीरावर प्रयोग करतात परंतु शरीराचे ऐकत नाहीत. त्यामुळे दुष्परिणाम भोगावे लागतात. बरेचसे आहार तज्ञ त्यांच्या क्लायंट्ना आहारातून तेल तूप बंद करण्यास सांगतात परंतु तेल-तूप बंद केल्यामुळे सांधेदुखी, केस गळणे, त्वचा सुरकुतणे, मलावरोध इत्यादी आजार सुरू होतात. तूप खाल्ल्याशिवाय रूप येत नाही ही जुनी म्हण खरी आहे. एका सुप्रसिद्ध कार्डिओलॉजिस्टने सांगितले आहे की डॉक्टर मंडळींनी तुपाला बदनाम केले आहे. तूप हे पारंपारिक पद्धतीने घरी बनवलेले असावे असे डॉक्टरांचे मत आहे. तसेच घाण्यावरचे किंवा कोल्ड प्रेस तेल स्वयंपाकात वापरावे, रिफाइंड तेल वापरू नये असे त्यांचे स्पष्ट मत आहे. त्यांच्याकडे एकदा आयटी मधला मुलगा ऍसिडिटीची तक्रार घेऊन आला होता. डॉक्टरांनी त्याला पुरेपूर झोप घेण्याचा सल्ला दिला व त्यामुळे त्याची ऍसिडिटी गायब झाली. एक पोलीस अधिकारी इरिटेबल बॉवेल सिंड्रोम या आजाराने अनेक वर्षे ग्रस्त होते. डॉक्टरांनी त्यांना तेलाची बस्ती व मसाज याने बरे केले. एक रुग्ण सर्दी, पडसे, खोकला या आजाराने ग्रस्त होता. डॉक्टरांच्या संपर्कात आल्यानंतर डॉक्टरांनी त्याला पाणी किती पिता म्हणून प्रश्न केला तर त्याने दिवसातून चार ते पाच लिटर पाणी पितो असे सांगितले. डॉक्टरांनी त्यास मुद्दामहून पाणी पिऊ नको म्हणून सांगितले, फक्त तहान लागली तरच पाणी पी असा सल्ला दिला व चार ते पाच दिवसात त्याची सर्दी, पडसे, खोकला बरे झाले. एका रुग्णाचे गुडघ्याचे ऑपरेशन ठरलेले होते डॉक्टरांनी त्यास तिळाचे तेल गुडघ्याला रोज लावा असा सल्ला दिला, त्यांनी हा प्रयोग दोनेक महिने केला व त्याची गुडघेदुखी थांबली. असे अनेक पेशंट डॉक्टरांच्या केवळ सल्ल्याने व अत्यंत छोट्या उपायाने बरे झालेले आहेत. डॉक्टर सध्या पुणे, मुंबई, बेंगलोर, दिल्ली, चेन्नई, हैदराबाद, इंदोर याठिकाणी आयुर्वेद परिचय वर्ग घेतात व त्यामध्ये स्वत:चे डॉक्टर स्वत:च कसे बनावे हे शिकवतात. ते त्यांच्या कार्यशाळेत शिकवितांना आहार -निंद्रा व मनाचे स्वास्थ्य या तीन गोष्टींना प्राधान्य देतात. मनाच्या आरोग्यासाठी ते विपश्यना ध्यान साधनेची माहिती देतात. डॉक्टरांचे म्हणणे आहे की मन निरोगी असेल तर शरीर निरोगी राहण्यास मदत होते. अशाप्रकारे अत्यंत साध्या व सोप्या पद्धतीने आजार बरे होत असल्यामुळे अनेक रुग्णांना फायदा होत आहे. त्यांच्याकडे परदेशातून देखील रुग्ण येत असतात. सुमारे दोन दिवसापूर्वी मी आयबीएन लोकमत वर डॉक्टर विद्याधर गिरी यांची मुलाखत ऐकली होती, त्यांनी सांगितले की मॉडर्न मेडिसीनचे दुष्परिणाम जाणून सुमारे 71 देशांमध्ये औषध मुक्तीची चळवळ सुरू झालेलीे आहे. पुण्यातील डॉ. निखिल मेहता यांनी सुमारे वीस वर्षांपूर्वीच या चळवळीचा आरंभ केला आहे असे दिसून येते. संपर्कासाठी खाली त्यांचा नंबर पाठवित आहे. ज्या रुग्णांना बरीचशी औषधे घेऊन देखील बरे वाटत नाही किंवा ज्यांना साध्या सोप्या उपायांनीच बरे व्हावे असे वाटते त्यांच्यासाठी हा लेखन-प्रपंच मी केलेला आहे ... .. अशोक भारती (डॉ. निखिल मेहता: 9665012251)
